DC Rendezvous
DC Rendezvous is a series centered on the ongoing re-encounters between Futuro Berg and Christopher, a Cameroonian friend the photographer first met in 2019 while working in migrant support contexts at the Mexico–Guatemala border. After years of separation, the project follows the photographer’s return trips to the United States—particularly Washington D.C. and Baltimore—to visit Christopher and witness the conditions of his “new life” after migration and asylum processes. The series combines portraiture with observational images made during these visits, as well as during the walks and movements through the cities that shape each encounter. Alongside documenting Christopher’s everyday reality, the work opens up to the urban environments and the people met along the way, reflecting how relationships, displacement, and belonging unfold through movement and chance encounters. The images form a fragmented visual diary of reunion, distance, and time, where walking, waiting, and re-encountering become central to the experience of the work.
